Most plumbing failures get worse by the hour. A supply line dripping behind a cabinet at 8 am has soaked the subfloor by dinner. A slow sewer backup becomes a contaminated basement.
Same-day repair is not about convenience. It is about stopping the damage while it is still a plumbing bill rather than a restoration bill.
What Counts as Same-Day Urgent
Call today:
A burst or actively leaking pipe
Water pooling anywhere it should not be
Sewage backing up through drains
A water heater leaking from the tank body
No water at all
Any gas smell, though the utility gets called first
This can be scheduled:
A dripping faucet
One slow drain
A running toilet
Low pressure at a single fixture
The dividing line is whether water is actively going somewhere it should not. Our guide on what counts as a plumbing emergency covers the borderline cases.
What to Do Before We Arrive
Shut off the water. The fixture valve if the problem is isolated, the main shutoff for anything larger. This is the step that limits the damage
Electricity: be careful here. If water is near outlets or the panel, do not operate switches while standing in water. CDC guidance on flooded homes is to call an electrician rather than wading to a panel yourself
Contain what you can. Buckets, towels, and something to keep water off finished flooring
Photograph everything before you start cleaning. Insurers ask for this
Call and describe what is happening, so the right parts are on the truck
For gas, the sequence is different. Leave the building, touch no switches, and call PSE at 1-888-225-5773 or 911 from outside. The utility can shut the service down. We handle the repair once it is safe.

The Failures We Get Called For Most
Burst or leaking pipes. Freezing, corrosion, or pressure above what the fitting was rated for. In older Eastside homes, this is often galvanised pipe reaching the end of life, and our guide to rusted pipe repair covers whether a repair will hold.
Overflowing toilets. Close the shutoff behind the toilet. If it will not turn, lift the tank lid and push the flapper closed by hand.
Sewer backups. If several fixtures back up at once, the problem is the main line rather than any single drain. Stop using water throughout the house. Our guide to sewer line warning signs covers what leads up to it.
Water heater failures. A tank leaking from the body cannot be repaired and tends to go from a puddle to a large volume quickly. Shut the cold supply valve at the top and cut power or turn a gas unit to pilot.
Gas line problems. Utility first, always.
Why Speed Changes the Cost
The plumbing repair does not get much worse overnight. The damage does. A leak running from 8 am to 6 pm moves through drywall, along joists, and under flooring. That is when a plumbing job becomes a restoration job with a separate contractor and a separate bill.
Mould follows within days once a wall cavity is wet.
Insurance treats it differently. Sudden accidental damage is generally covered. Damage that worsened because it was left is more often argued over. Acting promptly protects the claim as well as the house.
Diagnosis is better while it is happening. A leak we can see is easier to trace than a stain we have to work backwards from.
On Cost, Honestly
Emergency and after-hours work costs more than scheduled work. That is real, and it reflects overtime, dispatch, and pulling a technician off planned jobs.
What we do is tell you the rate before we send anyone, so it is a decision rather than a surprise on the invoice. For an active leak, the premium is almost always less than the additional damage caused by waiting until Monday. For a dripping tap, it is not, and we will say so.
Our guide to emergency plumber costs in Washington covers what after-hours work actually runs, and after-hours plumbing covers overnight and weekend calls specifically.

Choosing a Same-Day Plumber
Ask about realistic timing rather than a slogan. "24/7" is easy to say. Ask what today actually looks like given what else is running.
Verify the licence. Washington requires plumbing work to be performed by certified plumbers employed by a licensed contractor. The state Department of Labor and Industries lookup returns licence status, bond, and insurance in about a minute.
Ask what the after-hours rate is before dispatch, not after.
Ask whether the truck carries stock. The aim is fixing it on the visit rather than diagnosing and returning tomorrow.
Preventing the Next Emergency
Find your main shutoff today. Confirm it turns, label it, and make sure everyone in the household knows where it is
Book an annual inspection. A whole home plumbing inspection catches corrosion and a failing water heater while they are still scheduled work
Insulate pipes before winter. Our winterizing guide covers the runs that actually freeze here
Install leak sensors near the water heater, under sinks, and in the crawl space
Replace ageing appliance hoses. Braided steel lines on washing machines are inexpensive and prevent a common cause of flooding
Keep our number where you can find it
Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifies as a plumbing emergency?
Anything actively causing damage or creating a safety risk: burst pipes, flooding, sewage backup, a leaking water heater tank, or total loss of water. Gas smells are an emergency, but call PSE or 911 before calling us.
How quickly can someone reach me?
It depends where you are and what else is running that day. Call, and we will give you a realistic window rather than a number that sounds good, and we will talk you through containment in the meantime.
Is same-day service more expensive?
Emergency and after-hours work carries a higher rate. We tell you what it is before dispatch. For an active leak, it is almost always cheaper than waiting.
Can same-day repair prevent bigger damage?
That is the entire point. Stopping water within hours rather than days is usually the difference between a plumbing repair and a plumbing repair plus restoration.
Should I try to fix it myself first?
Shut the water off and contain it. Beyond that, no. Attempting a repair on a pressurised line generally makes it worse and can complicate an insurance claim.
Which areas do you cover?
Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Bothell, Renton, Issaquah, Sammamish, Seattle, and the surrounding Eastside.
Call When You Need To
If water is moving and you cannot stop it, shut off the main and pick up the phone. Everything else can be sorted once the water is off.
